Candy, Mama to Misha

« on: March 12, 2010, 01:03:01 AM »

My mom is looking for a place to volunteer. Here's the ideal situation:

She needs a place that is in OCC where she can walk to. And a place that is forgiving if she forgets appointments. I've found reminders work for her and writing dates on a calendar. I just wasn't sure if there is such an opportunity in OCC. Anyone have a suggestion?  broke

I don't know if the library has any volunteer opportunities, but it'd be worth checking out the OCC branch - its the Carnegie Library on Pikes Peak behind Bancroft Park.

Check the West center (assuming they don't close in a couple weeks).  I'm sure they can find work for her.

Oooohhh...that's a good one too. Thanks Dani. Would BV have any volunteering also?

Of course she can volunteer at BV!  That would be awesome. If she wants to do that, let me know and I'll give my personal recommendation.  Here's a page for anyone who wants to volunteer in District 11 in any capacity - http://www.d11.org/volunteers/

She could be a Grandfriend -  http://www.d11.org/volunteers/grandfriends/index.htm  thumbsup

The OCC library definitely has volunteer opportunities - shelving and so forth.  Johanna does this, she might be a good resource for you.  Here's a page with a link to a PDF with opportunities and an application. http://ppld.org/blogs/ppld/?p=91
